Rampage ready for rematch
by Ben Blackmore, 28 August 2008
Quinton Rampage Jackson is ready to return to fighting and he has turned up the pressure for a title rematch against Forrest Griffin.
Jackson lost his belt in a dramatic five-round epic against Griffin, who took a close decision at "UFC 86" that could have gone either way.
Rampage has since had his problems outside The Octagon, finding himself in trouble with the Police after driving recklessly back in July.
UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Jackson will fight again soon despite the lingering charges hanging over his head, and Rampage clearly has one score to settle.
“I just want my fans to know, I was at my worst and Forrest was at his best - and I still beat him,” he boldly claimed in Fighters Only Magazine.
“I wasn’t really sure, right at the end of the fight... I know he hurt me and punched me in the face a couple of times but I was bobbing and weaving and making him miss, stuff like that.
“I was hoping that he would come out later after he saw the fight and say ‘yeah, I saw the fight and I lost that fight.”
Jackson’s claims come just days after Anderson Silva’s camp admitted they are eyeing a clash with Chuck Liddell, which would offer The UFC a clear solution for future matchmaking.
If Jackson was granted his rematch, Liddell and Silva could face off for the right to become number one contender – should they first overcome Rashad Evans and Patrick Cote respectively.
