Harrington wants schedule change
by Nick Royle, 05 July 2008
Ireland’s Padraig Harrington feels that the tour schedule should be adjusted so that the European Open and last week's French Open would be the last two warm-up events ahead of the British Open.
The British Open starts at Royal Birkdale on July 17, meaning that European Tour players must compete in the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond as their last game before the Major.
"This [European Open] is a good forerunner for the Open championship," he said.
"Ideally you would play this week, maybe the French which is very links-like and then the Open.
"That would be the best run-in we could get. The London Club is as close as a parkland course will get to a links feel... unless it is the French Open which is closer."
