Creachadoir wants it dry
by Michelle Fortune, 15 May 2008
Simon Crisford is hoping the rain stays away from Newbury before Creachadoir takes his chance in the Juddmonte Lockinge on Saturday.
The ground is currently good to firm at the Berkshire venue but Crisford is worried that the going description could change as a result of the heavy rain that is forecast to fall on the course before the valuable race.
All three of Creachadoir's wins have come on good ground or faster and with the likes of Cesare, Tariq, Majestic Roi and Astronomer Royal entered in the Lockinge, Crisford is keeping his fingers crossed that the weather stays dry.
"He's been in great form. He ran in the Duty Free in Dubai but he missed the break and got behind and it was a sprint type of race," Crisford told At The Races.
"In fact, he ran a really good race from the position that he was in. We were happy enough. He's done very well since then and is in good form.
"Newbury will suit him well. The only thing against him is if it rain that is forecast falls because he is a top of the ground horse.
"Even if it does rain does run he will run. We'll take our chance, but the faster the ground the better his chance."
