Els: I'll win soon
by Richard Field, 15 May 2008
Ernie Els thinks he can return to winning ways within the next month.
The South African tied for sixth at The Players Championship and this after a triple-bogey six at the notorious 17th in the opening round.
Els is taking a week off before returning for the European Tour’s flagship event, The PGA Championship, and The Big Easy is in confident mood.
“All the signs are there. The Players Championship was a really good test for me – you know, difficult golf course, tough conditions, almost no margin for error on any hole,” Els told his website.
“The way I played gave me some positive vibes and confirmed that I’m working on some good things.
“That gives me a lot of optimism for the coming months.”
Els has struggled since winning The Honda Classic in March with three missed cuts and 75th place at the CA-Championship before his top-10 finish at TPC Sawgrass.
“It’s been a rough couple of months since my win at the Honda. But I’m back on track and my game feels like it’s really coming together,” added the world number three.
