Davis: You'll never knock me out
by Ben Blackmore, 07 May 2008
Nothing is ever certain in the world of UFC, Matt Serra proved that when he dethroned Georges St-Pierre as an 11/1 underdog back in April ’07. However, Marcus Davis will guarantee Mike Swick one thing at “UFC 85: BEDLAM”, claiming: “You’ll never knock me out”.
"UFC 85: BEDLAM" is the inaugural live UFC event on Setanta Sports, with Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves and Michael Bisping all on the card. To subscribe, click here.
If you had to draw up the most exciting fight card from all the fighters in The UFC, Davis would appear.

“The Irish Hand Grenade” has won all five of his UFC bouts, taking the last three inside the first round whilst picking up Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night honours along the way.
Swick provides his toughest opponent to date though, a man with superior reach and better submissions, but Davis insists all the pressure is on his opponent – because he can only win the fight from the deck.
“I wrestle all the time. A lot of people don’t know that – I’m not an easy guy to take down,” said a confident Davis.
“In the clinch I’m gonna be physically stronger than Mike so I don’t think he’s gonna have a choice. He’s gonna have to take me down.”
If the fight is decided in the stand-up – as Davis predicts it will be – the welterweight powerhouse insists his knock-out power will blow Swick away regardless of reach.
“I’m the only guy who can knock a guy out – guaranteed I don’t care who it is – with one punch. I can do that. Nobody else can say they can do that to me.
“It’s never happened. I’ve been a professional boxer for 11 years – never knocked out. I’ve been stopped for cuts, but nobody can say ‘I’m gonna punch him and knock him out’. It’s not gonna happen.
“I’ve knocked guys out or knocked them down with jabs, so I’ve always got that in my back pocket – you always know you’re in danger.
“Reach and speed don’t matter if you don’t have good timing and that’s the thing about me – I have impeccable timing when it comes to striking.
“Guys throw punches and I barely let them miss, and then I’m in there throwing my shots. So his reach isn’t gonna be an advantage – trust me it’s not.
“It’s gonna be over in a round. It’ll finish either because he’s cut me, or because I’ve knocked him out.”
