Swedes confirm Larsson enquiry

The speculation surrounding Henrik Larsson’s future continued to gather pace late on Thursday when the veteran Swedish forward’s club Helsingborgs confirmed they had received an enquiry about the player.
The 36-year-old legend enjoyed a highly successful seven-year spell at Celtic and was also a loan hit at Manchester United, where he spent a two-month temporary stay in 2007.
His links with both clubs have seen their names mentioned in connection with a return to British shores, while Aston Villa have also been thrown into the rumour mill due to Martin O’Neill’s management of Larsson during his time at Parkhead.
Earlier on Thursday Helsingborgs spokesperson Sten-Inge Fredin said that the club would look at any approaches made for the player, before appeasing the Allsvenskan side’s fans with a following statement that the club were not thinking of selling Larsson.
Now Helsingborgs have revealed they have indeed been contacted about Larsson’s availability.
"We have received enquiries via an agent," confirmed the club’s sporting director Jesper Jansson to DN.se.
It had been reported in Sweden that Helsingborgs were in need of the money that would be brought in through the offloading of Larsson, who himself has said that any decision on whether to sell him lies with the club.
