Pedersen severs ties with Hull
by Tom Kell, 05 July 2008

Pedersen has gone back to Denmark

Phil Brown expressed his shock and disappointment after learning of Henrik Pedersen’s decision to leave Hull as of immediate effect.

Former Bolton assistant Brown brought Pedersen to Hull from The Reebok Stadium last summer and was keen to keep him for The Tigers’ Premier League bow.

However, Pedersen has been forced to return to Denmark for personal reasons, insisting he will now only turn out for his hometown club..

"It's a disappointing one, it's a shock to everybody,” said Brown. “It's a decision I respect as it's for family reasons. He has commitments back in Denmark.

"There was a year's contract on the table and Henrik's asked permission to come out of that.

"He wants to continue playing football but he's promised he will only play for his hometown team back in Denmark, Silkeborg. We wish him all the best, of course we do."

Who was England's best player?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“While all big teams (Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool) were busy protecting their best players, Arsenal was in forefront encouraging injury prone Walcott to participate in that useless freindly. Arsenal has a very thin squad and I remember Walcott said it but Wenger didn't take action to add some players. Arsenal players are not made of steel and Wenger should be prepared for such situation. We need Arsenal supporters on the board of Arsenal who can feel the way we feel when the team is losing and they can force Wenger to buy some experience players. Current board members are only interested in profits yet they (profits) don't go into history of the club”
