Newcastle 'target' staying put

Reported Newcastle target Per Ciljan Skjelbred is set to confirm his stay at Rosenborg by signing a new contract with the Norwegians.
The player’s agent revealed on Friday that there had been no approach from The Magpies, but he stated his client would consider a move if Newcastle made an offer.
However, the midfielder now looks set to end speculation over his future by committing it to Rosenborg.
Rosenborg sporting director Erik Hoftun admitted the Norwegian giants would still be open to substantial offers for the 21-year-old, but they expect him to pen a new contract within the next two weeks.
"It looks good. He has not signed yet, but we expect him to sign within the next 14 days," the Hoftun told Dagbladet.
"Per is a player we really want to keep. The day when a club table a lot of money for him, we will consider it."
