Goncalves: On the move

Hearts defender Jose Goncalves has agreed a new two-year deal with the Tynecastle club.

However, as part of the deal, the Portugal Under-21 international will spend one year on loan with German side FC Nuremburg.

Goncalves was the subject of a £1miliion bid from the German side late in June but that was booted into touch by Vladimir Romanov who valued the player at double the price.

But now with the all important paper work completed, Goncalves will join his new colleagues at the Easy Credit Stadium and the Bundesliga side have the option to make the move permanent after the end of the year-long deal.

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“Surprise Surprise it's the Villa player who gets dropped to make way for the 2 players from the top 4. This has been proven to not work time after time but hey screw it well play them both anyway. Anything to drop the Villa player, who when truth be told has done nothing wrong and has improved the midfield. Just cuz lampard and gerrard play for better and bigger clubs than Barry does not give them the right to be picked ahead of him. Yes he has had a few bad performances but so has the entire squad so to single him out is just wrong, but not surprising. When in doubt drop the Villa player, it will cause less of a fuss. A total disgrace and 1 of the reasons I do not like Capello. There are players playing out of there skins and being ignored time after time just so the big names can get in the England squad. Then everyone asks why we played so badly, there is one reason straight away. The manager picks star names and not players that are playing well and deserve a chance.”
