Reds confirm Lee arrival
by Joseph Caron Dawe, 16 May 2008
Liverpool have officially confirmed the appointment of Sammy Lee to the club in the capacity of assistant manager.
The former Anfield player returns to the club for a third spell on Merseyside, having formerly patrolled midfield before managing the reserves in the early 1990s.
Lee – who replaced Sam Allardyce as Bolton manager for an unsuccessful spell earlier in the season – replaces Alex Miller who departed for Japanese J-Legaue outfit JEF United last week.
The 49-year-old last left The Reds in 2004 when Rafa Benitez arrived from Valencis to take up a role in the England set up, and then joined The Trotters as Allardyce’s assistant in 2005.
Lee’s success in his playing days at the club brought him three League titles, four League Cups and two European Cups.
