James: Let's not embarrass ourselves

David James has issued a stark warning against complacency ahead of Portsmouth’s FA Cup final with Cardiff.

Pompey, who finished eighth in The Premier League, head into the Wembley showpiece as overwhelming favourites.

The Bluebirds ended the season 12th in the second tier but, in a tournament littered with upsets, James knows he and his team-mates can scarcely afford to take their eye off the ball.

“They deserve to be in the final and if we take them lightly we could get embarrassed,” he told Setanta Sports News.

“Having seen them qualify well in each round – the game against Boro was a very decent result, but it was a decent performance as well.

“The game against City in the semi-final was also a decent result for them. We all know what we need to know come Saturday.”

Who is better?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“I'd be astounded if Arsene Wenger has any interest in signing Martins because he simply isn't the technical standard of footballer you'd expect of Arsenal. Other than pace, he has no real quality, he's a poor man's Tony Yeboah who is dreadfully inconsistent and makes Adebayor look like Kaka. I can just picture thousands of Geordies on their knees, praying that this story is true. Andy”
